Edale was the first place I visited in the Peak District and it remains a favourite. There are lovely valley walks which I particularly enjoyed a few years ago when I came back from the Pyrenees. No climbing, no heavy rucksack, and gentle slopes not steep mountains. You can reach the Kinder Plateau (above) quite easily. Having said that, it needs a reasonable amount of effort which often surprises me.
