I walked the northern part of the Corsican GR20 and found it quite gruelling. Far more than anything I experienced in the French or Spanish Pyrenees. It’s not my favourite kind of terrain with sharp rocks, scree, boulders, and not much grass. My sandals weren’t suitable. They are tough, but were ruined after my walk. There was torrential rain when I arrived on the island which fortunately stopped, but then two or three days of very bad weather. You see a few seconds of it in the film, where I’m taking a rest day and contemplating my options. The photograph is one of the best from my walk on a day of mixed cloud and sunshine.
